Week 1 - Day 5 - Activity 3

Hi!

In case you still don't know what the Summer Learning Journey is here is an explanation. The SLJ is a learning thing that helps you in the holidays to prevent the summer slide. The summer slide is something that means we lose lots of our learning in the holidays when we can prevent most of that by doing 3 blog posts a day for 4 weeks not including weekends. That means there are 60 blog posts that we can do to help us. Best of all this is a competition so each blog has a certain amount of points. So at the end of the holidays our points are added up and we get prizes.

Here is what I have to do today.

For this activity, please choose one person (a changemaker) and read all about them.
On your blog, provide us with:
  1. The name of the person
  2. A description of the work they do/have done
  3. An explanation of how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others

Here is my work that I found out.

WOW! What an amazing achievement.
She was only 14-16 there were no exact answers.
Do you think you could achieve something like that?
What is your greatest achievement?
Comment what you think and your answers.
Until next time...
Bye!

Week 1 - Day 5 - Activity 2

Hi!

In case you still don't know what the Summer Learning Journey is here is an explanation. The SLJ is a learning thing that helps you in the holidays to prevent the summer slide. So at the end of the holidays our points are added up and we get prizes.

Here is what we have to do.

For this activity, listen to the podcast of Yusra Mardini, or read her story on her personal website.
On your blog, retell the story of this amazing young woman from Syria.

Here is my changed version of the story.
My aim is to make it similar but not copy the writing.

Yusra Mardini and her older sister were caught in the Syrian war. To save themselves they boarded a full little boat and set out for Europe to hopefully find a safer home. Around 15 minutes later the engine died out. Since Yusra is a professional swimmer she was determined to not let anyone drown. Yusra and her sister had gotten into the water with two other people and swam fro about 3 and a half hours to make sure the boat didn't flip. Around a year later her work was noticed and she became a member of the refugee olympic team to represent so many people. Since then things have gone smoothly for Yusra.

That was it.
I know that it doesn't look interesting as you are scrolling
by but it is a really interesting story of someone.
Here is a link to the site where the story was: LINK
Comment some feedback on how I could improve.
Do you know about anything like this?
Until next time...

On your blog, please share three things that you treasure and say why they are treasures to you

Now I decided to show this on a biteable.
Here it is.

Week 1 - Day 5 - Activity 1 on Biteable.

That was the biteable.
I hope you liked it.
What would your three treasures be?
Are any of them the same as mine?

For this activity, imagine that you were asked to create a travel brochure for Tonga (or a country that is important to you). On the brochure, include lots of great tips about what to see and do in the country.
On your blog, post your finished copy of your brochure.

Now here is my brochure.

Imagine that the line in the middle means that there is a crease where you fold it.
That is the brochure.
I know it is simple, but I think it still looks good.
Would you come here?
If not where would you go?
Comment your answer and opinion and I will probably reply.

On your blog, tell us what you would change your name to and why you would choose that name.

I think I would keep my last name the same though.
Here is what I would choose.

That's the name I would choose and my explanation.
I tried making the O in Clover a four leaf clover but it doesn't look amazing.
What name would you choose?
Comment the name you would choose.

That was what we had to do.
So here is my recount.

That was it.
I know it isn't super brave but I can't think of anything
that I have done or someone else I know has done.
I could of written about some plane trips that
were scary but I didn't do anything brave in them.

That was my poem.
I know it is simple but it is a Haiku after all.
What would you write as your poem?
What is your favourite style poem?

I chose to use the diagram but change it a bit.
Here is my work about Amelia Earhart and Jean Batten.

MEGA AIR!!!

Hi!
Yesterday was our end of year assembly.
So after that the year 6-8s set off on a walk
to Mega Air to celebrate the leavers.
We arrived and watched a quick video of the rules so we could be safe.
Then....
PIZZA ARRIVED.
Once we ate that, we were on the trampolines.
Everyone was bouncing everywhere.
I bounced around then tried the pit.
I managed to survive then went to the dodgeball area.
I had the best strategy.
Not moving.
It worked, I only got hit one time!!
Then after a bit more bouncing I made both the teachers take a leap into the pit.
I made a slide of all the photos.
Here is the slide...

Those were the photos.
As you can tell we all had lots of fun.
We were all very tired by the time we had to leave.
I think that my favourite part would of been
all the ledges that you can bounce up to.
That was my first time going to Mega Air and I think
that it was lots of fun and I would definitely go again.
Until next time...
Bye!

Day 4 - Activity 1

Hi!
Today Emma from the Summer Learning Journey came in to explain that we
can do a practice blog out of the teaser week activities.
So everyone in the class did one today.
Firstly we had to make a folder for all our SLJ work in.
Next we looked at the activities and chose our one.
I chose to do the activity where we are principal for a week.
What we have to do is think of 5 things that we want to do.
I decided to show this on a google drawing.
I hope you enjoy it.
Here it is...

That was my work.
I hope you liked it.
I will explain More now.
For more time for art its because we don't do it often.
I chose the second one since the school pool is always cold.
Class pets because they are fun and teach responsibility.
Creative trips are like things you wouldn't expect to happen as a trip.

For the fifth one I chose that because the more
things we do we get new experiences from.

That's all for today.
Until next time...
Bye!
