Toothpick Squares

Hi!
Today for math we did something called toothpick squares.
For this all we had to do is find out how many toothpicks
you need to make 9 squares in a row.
I didn't find that part very hard because all I had to do is count each square as 3 toothpicks and for the last square I counted 4 toothpicks.
It will be easier to understand the photo of my work.

That was the main part of my math today.
If we had finished that we had to do the challenge.
For the challenge all we had to do was try to find the least
amount of toothpicks you can use for 9 squares.
At first I didn't understand how because I thought
that you had to leave it in a line.
Then I realized that you have to move where the squares are so you
can use one toothpick for one side of two squares.
My lower score out of my two square things was 22.
Here is my work.

That was the challenge part of my math.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Feel free to come up with you own ideas to use the
lowest amount of toothpicks for 9 squares
and comment your lowest score.
I hope you liked reading about my math work today.
Bye!
