Cycling into the unknown...

Hi!
For the past two days we have been doing...
CYCLE SAFETY!
We were taught by some people from Christchurch City Council.
We have learnt how to be safe on the road.
We learnt the signals, I will tell you what they are.
- You put your left hand out to signal left
- You put your right hand out to signal right
- You put your right hand up in a stop motion to signal that your stopping
We learnt who gets to go first at intersections, I will tell you.
- The people on the main road always go first
- The people going straight go first
- Left goes second
- Right goes last
When you are going around roundabouts you have to always give way to your right.
I had to borrow one of their helmets and bikes.
To borrow a helmet we have to wear a hair net.
My bike was called 'Black Thunder'.
You probably have had enough of me talking.
Here are some photos...
Us learning about signs

Grace playing one of the games.

Us playing shrinking square.

Maddie hiding from the camera.

Me biking.

Grace biking.

Maddie biking.

Shay biking.

My group lining up getting ready to cycle away.
Those were some of the photos.
I hope you liked seeing my blog.
Sadly, we don't have any photos of us on the road.
We only have photos of us at school on the first day.
I found that it was a lot easier and smoother on the court at school
and that it was a lot more bumpy on the road.
I was a bit nervous when we first went on the road but after a bit it was fun and easy.
It was on the second day that we used our new skills on the road.
Feel free to comment on my blog and if you already
knew some of these biking rules.
Bye!

  1. Hi Abby
My name is Terapi from Pt England school. I love you writing about all cycle Safety. It looked really fun to rid the bike and I would love to rid a bike too. It looked like you had lots of fun riding a bike.

    1. Hi Terapi, Thank you for commenting on my blog. We did have lots of fun riding the bikes. Did you notice that you keep spelling ride as rid? Do you not ride bikes? Again, thank you for choosing to comment on my blog. Bye.
