My Speech

--My speech--

Imagine how many species are in the world and there are so many more of us than any other species. Altogether there are around 7,640,875,986 people in the world last time I looked and it keeps going up rapidly and there are about 8.5 million species and so how many animals are there? And how many of that species is left? Hi, my name is Abby and today I am talking about 6 of the most endangered animal species in the world.

Now time for the first three I chose that are land animals and those land animals are Siberian Tigers, Giant pandas, and polar bears. First up Siberian tigers, Siberian tigers are beautiful and majestic creatures that can blend in with their orange and black stripes even if their tail is sticking out, that is impressive, right? Siberian tigers live in the freezing forests of Russia and northern China. They can do this because they have long thick fur and a layer of fat to keep them protected from the cold that's amazing am I right? But there's also a sad part because they are hunted by poachers who kill them for their skins, and their homes are being cut down.

Second up is Giant pandas, Giant pandas are the rarest members of the bear family. These animals live in the mountain areas of south-west China in cold, wet bamboo forests. Their numbers have gone down quickly because the forests are destroyed and the pandas end up with nothing to eat. Third up are Polar bears, Polar bears are big, powerful hunters, and these hunters are the largest meat-eating animals to walk on land. They mainly eat seals but are capable of hunting larger animals like walruses. Polar bears have no main predators but are endangered because of global warming. Global warming is making the ice that they depend on for hunting is melting rapidly.

Now for the second three sea animals. First up is the North Atlantic Right Whale but I’m going to call it the NAR Whale. The NAR Whales are only found in the Atlantic Ocean. The NAR Whales are slow swimmers so they are easy targets for commercial whalers. Although they are now a protected species now, at one point they were nearly extinct and they still are extremely rare. Second up is The leatherback turtles, The leatherback turtles are the largest sea turtles in the world. Even Though The leatherback turtles have been on the plant for around 1 hundred million years, Global warming, Damage to their nesting beaches and ocean pollution are threatening their lives.

Third up is Hector's dolphins, Hector's dolphins are found in the sea off the coast of our home in New Zealand. Unlike many other species of Dolphin, Hector's dolphins have a rounded fin. The Hector's dolphins are the smallest dolphins in the world because a full-grown hector’s dolphin is 1.4 meters that is so small right? The Hector's dolphins live close to shore but that makes it dangerous because they can get tangled in fishing nets and drown. Now you might be asking how can they drown they are dolphins? Well just like us sea animals have to come up every so often to suck in lots of air so they can stay under the water for long periods of time.

Doesn’t this make you angry And sad? And you want to help well I can give you a few ideas to help, 1, If you can stop people cutting down trees, 2, recycle more, 3, Don’t litter and 4, you can donate to zoos to save animals. This speech is for you so then you know what's happening with these animals and how you can help in so many ways so don’t you want to help them?

-Abby

This isn't my real speech this is just the long non-edited version of my speech that will eventually turn into the good speech that I will present. The speech needs to be a maximum of 2 minutes and this one is 3 minutes and 43 seconds so I will post my good speech once I edit this.
