Week 2, Day 1, Activity 1

Hi!

I know it has been 2 weeks but I have been busy. But here is a blog post.
In case you still don't know what the Summer Learning Journey is here is an explanation. The SLJ is a learning thing that helps you in the holidays to prevent the summer slide. The summer slide is something that means we lose lots of our learning in the holidays when we can prevent most of that by doing 3 blog posts a day for 4 weeks not including weekends. That means there are 60 blog posts that we can do to help us. Best of all this is a competition so each blog has a certain amount of points. So at the end of the holidays our points are added up and we get prizes.

Here is what I have to do today.

For this activity, create a list of your ‘Top 5’ favourite things to do and take a photo of yourself doing each of these things.
On your blog post both your list and your photos of your favourite things.

I didn't have any photos so for each one I made a picture.
Now here is my work...

That was my work.
I hope you liked it.

I am going to be trying to finish all the blogs this
week but after this blog I will still have 44 left but I will try.

What's your favourite thing to do?
Until next time...
Bye!

  1. Kia Ora Abby,
My name is Nadia, I am a year 11 student from Hornby High School and I will be commenting on some of your posts this year for the SLJ!
Congratulations on yet another epic post for the SLJ!
I enjoyed looking at this post because of the beautiful sideshow you created. I see you used your graphic design skills to create a really attractive slideshow. I particularly enjoy that even though you did not have photos of yourself, you created images to symbolize what you enjoy doing.
I also love playing netball and baking. What position in netball do you play? I play Wing Defense. I always like to bake with my Mum, we always bake cakes on our relatives birthdays. What do you like baking?

Next time I do suggest including your own photos or even a video on your blog post. Just make sure to read what the task asked :).

Great job on this post Abby, I hope to see a reply or two from you soon.
    Keep up the great work,
    Until next time
    - Nadia :)

  2. Hey Abby!

This is a really top quality post, I'm impressed! Not only have you included a paragraph explaining what the Summer Learning Journey is (which I'm sure will be greatly appreciated by those who come across your blog with no prior knowledge, well done!), you've also made a beautifully designed Google presentation - definitely keep this up! That's a skill which will become super handy when you reach High School!

I actually really like that you've taken a different approach with the visual side of things - did you create those images you've used on your list yourself? You're very artistic!

If I could give you one bit of advice I'd say go more in depth. Why do you enjoy them? I know it isn't necessarily apart of the activity, but just in case you wanted to go a little bit above and beyond. Otherwise, this is a great post!

So you like playing with animals? Me too! You'd be crazy not to, right? What's your favourite animal? Personally I love dogs. Literally any size, any breed, they're all adorable :)

My favourite thing to do is anything music related; listening to it, playing instruments, going to concerts. The power of music is magical. What's your all time favourite thing to do?

Awesome work once again, Abby, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for your next post. Have a fantastic night!

  3. Mōrena Abby,

Congratulations on completing another activity! I really like the way you've presented this activity - the drawings on your slides are so well done! :)

While I'm here I just wanted to let you know that the Summer Learning Journey finishes next Friday (January 24th). That means that you have one week left to post as many activities as you can. You shared some great work earlier in the programme but we've noticed that you haven't been as active recently and Emma and I would love to see some more posts from you. Remember, the more activities you complete and post, the more points you could earn! :)

Have a wonderful day, Abby. I do hope that I'll be seeing some new SLJ posts from you soon.

    Mā te wā,

    Mikey

  4. Hello Abby, its me Parwin!

Great to see that you have completed yet another SLJ activity! I like how you created drawings for each thing as you didn't have photo's of you doing it.

This kind of reminds me of my hobbies and the things I like doing. I enjoy Hockey, Baking and playing any board game. What is your favorite board game?

I think that you did an awesome job! I can't think of anything for you to improve on but if you have anything in mind that would make your blog post even better, then go for it!

    Awesome work!

Looking forward to your next posts,
    Parwin
