Peka and Koro - Author visit

Hi!
This Friday a Author came in.
Her name is Karyn Wilson.
She talked about her two books.
Kereru BBQ and one other special book
that is coming out next week.
Here are the two book covers.

They look amazing.
This is all thanks to her amazing illustrator Jessica Waters.
Sadly only Karyn came in but she read
her new book Peka and Koro to us.
Peka and Koros book was very interesting.
It was about a short tail bat: Peka, and a HUGE snail called Koro.
It is Pekas first time leaving during night and she gets lost.
Koro finds her and takes her to meet his friends.
They are lots of native animals from here.
At the end she had lots of facts about
each individual animal.
I suggest that anyone could read the book and enjoy it.
Here are a couple of other photos...

She also showed us her writing process.
We got to take a few photos with her but
then it was time for her to go.
We all said goodbye and with that she
left us to do our blog posts.
Do you want to read one of her books now?
Well this is her website link: Kereru Books
She learnt how to set the website up herself to.
The website looks amazing.
Best of all its all NZ made.
Comment what you think about these books and
what your answer to the question.
Until next time...

Invention or Discovery?

Hi!
This week for my home learning blog post I chose the...
Invention or discovery activity.
It was really fun coming up with different arguments.
For this we had to brainstorm if Math is a invention or discovery.
Then we had to come to a final conclusion.
Here is the slide...

That was the slide.
I hope you liked it.

Feel free to comment on my final
opinion and add to my brainstorm
and change the conclusion.
Also comment your argument why.

Until next time...

Steps to success...

Hi!
This week for my blog post I chose to post this DLO poster.
This is from math.
It shows how you can round up decimals.
It is really easy once you know how to do it.
I posted this so if you didn't know you could learn how to.
It really feels just like two steps.
It didn't take long to make it and it turned out alright.
Here is the steps to success...

That was the poster.
I hope you liked it.
Feel free to comment on what I have done well.

It would be great to get some feedback
on how I could of made this better.

Do you understand how to round up decimals now?

Next in my math slide I am continuing
to round up harder decimals.

Rounding decimals is really simple to me now.
Until next time...

Why Grandmother stormed out...

Hi!
This week I chose to blog about my response
to chapter 8 & 9 of boy in the striped pjs.
It has taken a while to finish all the other
things to get up to where I have read to.
For the response I chose to do it about
why Bruno's grandmother stormed out.
This is in chapter 8.
I chose to post this because
it turned out good.
I chose to do the response more
creatively by using biteable.
It didn't take that long and it was really easy.
Here is the slide...

Since you can't use the link on the slide I embedded it in the post.
Here is my biteable...

I think it looks cool.
I hope you like it to.
Please comment some feedback so I know
what I can improve on for next
time I do a novel study response.
I really like the book so far.
It is a bit boring at the moment though.
I'm waiting for the book to get more exciting.
Have you read the book or seen the movie?
Until next time...

What time is it... MOVIE TIME!!!!

Hi!

This week for my home learning blog
I chose the movie time activity.

These are the instructions...

Those are the instructions.
I chose to do the...
Day in the life of the pets.
Maggie is my dog.
Luna and Felix are my cats.
Here is the poster...

That was the poster.
I hope you liked it.
I think I could of done better but I didn't have time.
Feel free to comment on my work.
Or what I could of done better.
What would your movie be?
Until next time...
Bye!

SPEECHES!!

Hi!
This week for my blog post I chose to blog about...

Speeches.
Last week we presented them to year 7&8 and if we got 1st, 2nd or 3rd we go to present in front of the school.
Mia got third with 21 points.
Grace got second with 22.5 points.
Surprisingly I got first with 23 points.
It was really close.
Now tomorrow we are presenting in front of lots of people
and whoever gets first will go to another place for the real finals.
I am really nervous to present my speech.
We will also be having a judge to say who wins.
But you probably want to hear my speech.
Here it is...

That was my speech.
I was nervous while presenting, but it turned out ok.
Please comment and give me some feedback on how I can
 improve my presentation.
Feel free to comment on my blog post.
I'm slowly practicing.
It's really scary getting up but it gets easier.
Until next time...
Bye!

Polygon land for... BIRDS?

Hi!
Guess what?
Today Grace and I finished
our math week project.
I think it turned out awesome.
When we had about half a hour left we made lots of birds.
So now Polygon land belongs to birds.
I found this fun but challenging.
Fun because it is so much better then other math.
Challenging because the paint job didn't look great.
Next time I will think what the colors should go
and what they are before it is on the creation this is because
this time it didn't turn out the way we wanted it to.
We had a few problems but it still looks good.
We still need to decide where Polygon land will go next.
We also had a little letter that you will see being opened by Mia.
I chose to put all the photos on this slide.
Here it is the finished product...

That was the finished product.
I hope you liked it.
What did you do for math week?
I think the playground could of been better but we only had a week.
So it is the best it could be in a week.
Please comment some feedback on the finished
Polygon land and don't forget to answer the questions.
Until next time...

A picture paints a thousand words?

Hi!
Today my blog post is a bit different.
Yes it's a home learning blog but its your
choice on what this post says.
This week for my home learning blog I chose the...
A picture paints a thousand words activity.
Now you must of heard this saying before.
In either: books, movies, stories, etc.
Your friends or family might of said it once to!
Now for the picture.
Here is the picture...

Sorry if it is a bit blurry, it is from zooming in.
Dark, ruined. Bright, happy.
Do you see the differences?
Here are some more.
Lifeless, life like.
Now it's your turn.
Think of your own.
Comment your own words.
Think about what the picture is really like.
How many words do you think you can get?
Be creative with your word choice.
Until next time...
Bye!

Polygon land in construction!!!

Hi!
This week it is...
NZ MATH WEEK!!
Because of that most of the time at school is spent on math.
Nearly the whole class wasn't happy with this but...
It is something else.
We got to choose out of 9 math activities and we could go in small groups.
I am in a pair with Grace and Mr polygon (A test dummy).
We chose the playground activity:

Those were the instructions.
Now you know what we have to do you should see our halfway mark.
We only have to paint it and add some finishing touches.
We don't have many photos of the process.
Here is the halfway photo...

You won't know what the secret is until its done.
Tomorrow we will continue.
I posted this so I could get some feedback.

Please comment on our work and I will see if we can
make those changes to improve our playground.

We have until Friday.
Will we complete it?
Until next time...
Bye!

How Bruno's mother took credit for what she didn't do

Hi!
This week for my blog post I chose to post a DIFFERENT
response that I had to make for novel study.
I chose to post this because I also put it
in a creative way by using a biteable.
It didn't take me that long to create the photo.
I made the response about when mother took credit for
cleaning up Bruno's injury instead of someone else that really did do it.
Here is the biteable...

If you couldn't see the photo here it is...

That was my work/biteable.
I hope you liked it.
Have you taken credit for something you didn't do?
Feel free to comment on what I have done using a
positive a negative and a thoughtful comment.
So then I can improve my work.
Until next time...
Bye!

Out with what?

Hi!
Today for my novel study I had to
post my response to out with.
Out with what? you may ask.
Well out with is Bruno's new home.
I chose to post this because...

1. I had to and 2. because I think it looks cool.
Watch the slide if you want to discover what is
the house and why Bruno HATES that house.
Will you find out why Bruno hates the house.
Do you think the house is good or BAD?
Here is the slide...

That was my work.
I hope you liked it.
I am now wondering how long they are going
to be staying in out with and how long
Bruno will last at that house.
Did you find out why Bruno hates the house?
Have you read the book before?
Feel free to comment on my work.
Don't forget about the questions.
Until next time...
Bye!

What's the picture?

Hi!
Today for my blog post I have something a little bit different.
For this you have to go through all the slides and
try to guess what the picture underneath is.
This is part of my novel study work.
I am reading the book...
The boy in striped pajamas.
It is a really good book so far.
I chose to do my blog post like this because I got
inspiration from the teachers uncover blog post.
I wanted to do it a bit different.
So here is my version.

That was my response work.
I hope you liked it and thought it was cool/fun.
It was hard thinking of a way to do something like the
teachers blog post but in my own way so I wouldn't be copying.
But I think it turned out great.
Feel free to comment on the picture.
Also comment what slide you knew what was underneath.
Have you done a slide like this before?
Until next time...
Bye!

The Tardis

Hi!
This week for my home learning blog I chose to do the...
A trip in the tardis activity!!!
For this we had to use either:
Animaker, Powtoon or Biteable.
I chose to use Biteable.
I think my Biteable looks cool.
Here's the Biteable...

That was the Biteable.
I hope you liked it.
What would you do and go?
Feel free to comment on my work.
Don't forget to answer the question.
Until next time...

Camp Green lakes water supply...

Hi!
This week I decided to share my activity for holes.

For this we had to either: draw a picture of Stanly (the main character),
a yellow spotted lizard or a picture of a water truck.

I didn't have much time so it isn't really that detailed.
But I chose to do a digital drawing of a water truck.
I have done these types of activities as a year 5 and I
drew the lizard then so I chose something different.
It was rushed but it turned out ok.
The ground is that color because that's what I
thought a dried lake would look like.
I chose to show this because one we had to and two I think holes
is a really good book and wanted a excuse to be able to post about it.
Do you like the book or movie Holes if you have read/seen it?
Here is the picture...

I hope you liked it.
It is meant to be the water truck that the kids
at camp green lake get their water from.
Have you read the book Holes or seen the movie?
I have done both but this time it is being read to the hole class.
I'm glad it is this book, I really like it.
Until next time,
Bye!

A new discovery...

Hi!

Today for my Novel Study I did another
response to seeing the people in striped PJs.

All I did was put Bruno and Gretel looking out of
Bruno's window and seeing all the people.
I think that this is a important part of the story
because it is when they find out that they do have
neighbours and things are a bit different where they are living now.
It also matches the title seeing men/boys in striped pjs.
This part makes me wonder what they are
going to do about seeing those people.
I think they might ask their father about it and
that their father won't say much.
It was quick but I think it turned out alright.
Here is the final picture...

That was the final picture.
I hope you liked it.
Here is the picture without the people...

It wasn't super rushed.
But I think if I spent ages on it and the
people it would look heaps better.
But I wanted to move on to the next thing.
Feel free to comment on my work.
Have you read the book...
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
I'm not that far in but it is good.
Until next time...
Bye!

The shout out goes to...

Hi!
Today for Cybersmart we have been making a screencastify.
The screencastify had to be a shout out to someone.

I chose Jedi and Parwin because they are in my math group and
help me when I get stuck with a question that they might understand.

Here is the screencastify...

That was my screencastify.
If you couldn't hear I said...

'Hi, I would like to say thank you to Jedi and Parwin because they
are in my math group and they help me when I get stuck on a question. Bye.'

I hope you liked it.
I think I did a good job.
Feel free to comment your shout out.
It can be anyone that you have spoken to today.
They could of helped you or something else.
Until next time...
Bye!

Maria the Maid...

Hi!
This term from week 1 to week 5 I am reading...
The boy in striped pyjamas for my novel study.
It's a really good book so far.
For one of the activities we had to make a response.
I made a response to Maria the maid with Mia.
It is on Visme so just go through the link on the second slide.
It includes a character web about Maria.
Here's my work...

I hope you liked it.
I think it turned out good.
Have you seen/read this book?

I haven't seen the movie yet
and I'm still reading the book.

Feel free to comment on my work and
don't forget to answer the questions.
Until next time...
Bye!
